The artist
Franco Carloni was born on 20 December 1940 in Switzerland but has lived and worked in Italy for years. Self-taught, artist, singer, thinker and inventor. Since 1980 he has recorded some songs reaching the Swiss Hit Parade recording for the Phonogram Europa.
He has created some patents for the automotive world that have been adopted by the Ferrari, Brabham, Coopersucar and Alfa Romeo Prototipi Scuderie. The drivers who raced with Carloni’s facilities are among the most famous in the history of motoring: Niky Lauda, Clay Ragazzoni, Gilles Villeneuve, Jodi Scheckter, Emerson Fittipaldi and Carlos Pace.
For Formula 1 it has patented a medical air system, automatic safety belts and sensors for automatic fire-fighting systems. The artist’s inventions also affect the areas of safety and ecology; the last is a luminous balloon with little energy and maximum low beam power.
The artist was born as an entrepreneur in 1964. In the following years he became passionate about painting and preferred the oil on canvas and palette knife technique only, although among his works you can also find some drawings in ink on canvas. Over the years his works become more and more dense up to the three-dimensional. Over the years, Carloni’s interest also embraces bronze sculpture and in 2002, with the Pietrasanta exhibition, the historicization of the “Collar Sculpture” by Prof. Tommaso Trini, defined by the latter as “[… ] an unprecedented type of assembly […] they are two bodies, one has an organic shape, the other is geometric. But both are particularly intriguing for their internal mobility “.
